Countries such as Australia are spending hundreds of billions on their economy, while refusing to he

The UN estimates that to cure world hunger for just one year, it would cost around 30 billion dollars. This seems like a lot of money, but compared to what countries such as Australia are spending every year, it is a small price to pay, to better the lives of around 795 million people on this earth.

In first world country’s we see the problem, yet we turn a blind eye to it. We are so focused on improving our infrastructure and economy, spending billions on roads, schools, health care, and our military, that we refuse to supply the bare necessity of food, to over 12% of our global population, that are desperately in need of food.

If Australia alone spent the same amount of money on world hunger, than they are willing to spend on public hospital funding between 2020-2021, and 2024-2025, we could cure world hunger for one year.

Around 11 million people visit public hospitals each year in Australia, that means 30 billion dollars, to improve the lives of around 10 million people, seems justified right. Well that same 30 billion dollars could be used to improve the lives over 790 million people, all of which are in desperate need.

We live in a country where we are so blind to the millions of people in desperate need of not only food, but for what reason? Because they are not as privileged to live in such a country as Australia?

It is time for change to start, because we are building our countries up, while leaving the less privileged behind, to deny one human, let alone 795 million something as basic as food, is as bad as denying our own citizens their rights.

The people with such power to influence change in this country, our politicians, see these problems, but still don’t act? It is the same as seeing a crime being committed, but not doing anything to help? If our government’s can see that these people are dying, one every second in fact, to not help them is basically the same as manslaughter. They are killing innocent humans including children, unintendedly, by denying them food, even though they can see the problem evolving.

It is time for change to start, otherwise as our global population increases, so will the amount of people affected by global hunger.
